Remedy Summer Skin Damage With an IPL Photofacial

After a summer of fun in the sun, you might be seeing an increase in dark spots and other facial skin discoloration. We’ve got good news! You can restore your skin’s smoothness and reverse sun damage with an intense pulsed light (IPL) photofacial treatment. Photofacials resurface your face to create smooth, clear, and gorgeous skin.

How the sun impacts your skin

After spending time in the sun, your skin takes damage from ultraviolet (UV) rays. In addition to tan lines, you might see an increase in dark spots, freckles, and other facial discolorations.

UV rays can also cause serious health problems, including skin cancer. It’s important to use sunscreen regularly when you’re going outside. To erase the cosmetic signs of sun damage, IPL photofacials work noninvasively to fade discoloration and photodamage.

What exactly is an IPL photofacial

Similar to laser treatment, IPL uses light to resurface your skin. Unlike laser treatment, IPL uses multiple wavelengths of light to target skin damage. Our team uses the Cutera Xeo® LimeLight to specifically target your areas of photodamage. The controlled light pulses act to even your skin tone and enhance your overall appearance.

What you should expect

When you come in for an IPL photofacial, we start by cleaning the treatment area, then cover it with a clear gel. The IPL device emits light pulses that target damaged areas of your skin. Don’t worry, we provide dark glasses to protect your eyes from any harmful light radiation. You may feel some slight stinging during treatment. Many patients also experience some swelling afterward.

IPL therapy removes birthmarks, varicose veins, rosacea, and age spots. Not to mention, this treatment completely smoothes the surface of your face. We can treat many areas in a single session, and treatments only take about half an hour. There’s no recovery time, and your skin won’t experience any peeling.

We offer hydrating products to treat the minor sunburn that results from the treatment. In the week following your procedure, any pigmented lesions will darken slightly before they begin to fade. You may need three to six treatments, spaced about a month apart, to see full results.

Clear your complexion

We treat both male and female patients. If your skin is naturally medium or dark, IPL photofacial might not be effective. Don’t worry, we can recommend other treatment options.
